ILO ESAP 2: Newly hired inspectors undergo training in occupational health and safety
Through projects Employment and Social Affairs Platform (ESAP) 2 and Promoting Decent Work through Strengthening Occupational Safety and Health Management, the International Labour Organization (ILO) trained 30 newly hired labour inspectors in Kosovo* in occupational safety and health. The trainings were held on November 22-24 and November 27-30, 2023.
The ILO Specialist in Labour Administration, Inspection and Occupational Safety and Health, Antonio J. Robaldo dos Santos delivered 24 training hours consisting of 21 sessions. The trainings covered topics about key international labour standards on labour inspections; key international and European labour standards on occupational health and safety (OSH); occupational safety and health management systems; minimum requirements of an effective mandatory OSH Management System and main challenges in Kosovo; risk management relevance and the role of Labour Inspectors; occupational risk management; and risk assessment and control. Inspectors also participated in discussions on main challenges that labour inspectors are facing in Kosovo.
The trainings wrapped up with on-site inspection providing newly hired inspectors with valuable practical experience. Finalizing the training, participants were also tested about the retained knowledge.
